Available Positions:
We are seeking a dedicated Department Manager to join our team. This position requires a commitment to manage the department for continued growth with a strong emphasis on staff mentoring, state and federal environmental regulations, business development, and marketing initiatives. The Department Manager will lead and mentor a team of project managers, environmental scientists, and technicians. Responsibilities include overseeing environmental services projects and technical report reviews, preparing proposals for environmental services, managing departmental P&L, and assisting senior staff in marketing our services by developing and maintaining client interactions. This position may involve report preparation and project management duties based on the needs of the department.
Responsibilities:
Department management:
- Supervise and lead a team of project managers, scientists, and technicians
- Manage staff and department activities to ensure revenues, profits and loss, and other key performance indicators are achieved
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement professional development plans
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment
- Oversee the planning, executing, and delivering of environmental consulting projects
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Technical Expertise:
- Review and prepare technical reports, data, and proposals
- Provide technical guidance and oversight on environmental projects
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
- Ensure work and reports are in compliance with all relevant environmental laws and regulations
Business Development/Client Management:
- Cultivate client relationships
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key consulting clients
- Develop and present proposals and bids for potential projects
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to promote consulting services
- Identify clients’ needs and provide strategic solutions to address environmental challenges
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or other related field
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, two years of project management, and preferred two years of department management
- Proven track record in project management, business development, and client relationship management
- Strong background with leadership and team management skills
- Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills
- Technical expertise in environmental sciences remediation, PADEP Act 2, and storage tank regulations
- Business acumen and strategic thinking
Certifications:
- Pennsylvania geologist or engineer professional licensure or other professional licensure in other states
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, conferences, trade shows, and regulatory meetings
- Can work remotely 2-3 days a week
- Flexibility to work extended hours when necessary to meet project, client, and regulatory deadlines

We are seeking a skilled Driller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in drilling operations, heavy equipment operations, and a strong understanding of safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Driller in operating drilling equipment
- Utilize heavy equipment such as skid steer, jack hammer, vacuum unit
- Follow safety guidelines and ensure OSHA compliance
- Conduct digging activities as required
- Care and Maintenance of all drilling equipment
- Care and Maintenance of all company property
Requirements:
- Prior experience in commercial drilling operations
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation
- Knowledge of drilling techniques
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols
- Ability to work efficiently in physically demanding environments

We are looking to hire a college intern for the Consulting Department. The intern should be working on a degree in Geology, Science, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Biology or other degree. The candidate will need to have full day/s available to be able to go to job sites and a large block of time is needed.
Mountain Research typically hires college interns in the environmental fields. We will be evaluating the positions for fall, winter and summer interns.
