Dustfall (settable particulate) occurs when particulate is suspended in the atmosphere due to weather conditions, site activities, or vehicular traffic. Dustfall monitoring can occur at mines, quarries, oil and gas operations, power plants, industrial facilities and construction sites.
Dustfall collection units are setup at a prevailing upwind location from the source site, at the source site, and at prevailing downwind location(s) from the source site at varying distances. Depending on the size of the monitoring area, topography, and seasonal weather patterns, a weather monitoring station(s) can be installed to correlate dustfall distribution and weather parameters, particularly for wind direction and wind speed. Mountain Research manufactures the dustfall collection units and are available for purchase.
The dustfall collection units and sampling methods adhere to ASTM D1739-98(2017)
